Our Future
2008 began with the announcement that ISSUE Project Room won the bid for a 20-year, rent-free lease awarded by Two Trees to occupy the landmark theatre at 110 Livingston Street, an architecturally significant (McKim, Mead & White, 1925) and stunningly beautiful 4800 square foot performance space located in the former New York City Department of Education headquarters in Downtown Brooklyn. ISSUE will be just a few blocks from the Brooklyn Bridge and easily accessible by many subway lines.
This offers clear opportunities to more than double ISSUE’s audience from the current maximum of 100 per performance to approx. 250, increase our institutional capacity, implement new and expanded programs and raise our visibility, promoting ISSUE’s work and mission and advancing Brooklyn’s place as the center of New York’s experimental arts community.
To build this home, ISSUE depends on the generosity of individuals, foundations, and corporations that share its commitment to ensuring that the arts remain a vital part of New York City’s quality of life.
