Eric Frye: Obfuscation Morphologies

Eric Frye follows his exceptional 2017 ISSUE performance with Obfuscation Morphologies, a work that Fernando Zalamea, professor at Universidad Nacional de Colombia, describes as “an outstanding concrete sheafification of sounds drawing on conceptual motivations coming from Charles Sanders Peirce's studies on nerve excitations."

February 24th, ISSUE presents Argentine acousmatic composer Beatriz Ferreyra and Obfuscation Morphologies, a new work by Eric Frye. Though they differ in generation, both composers employ kindred methods for orienting sonic surfaces with signature precision across electroacoustic and computer music.

Eric Frye - LIVE at ISSUE / March 11th, 2017

Saturday, March 11th, ISSUE presents composer, artist and curator Eric Frye performing work in 4-channel sound. Eric Frye performs his erudite style of uncompromising, fractured electronics that at once recall the spattered tangle of Keith Fullerton Whitman's recent generations, the digital subversions of Jeff Witscher and the incisive chimerizations of Florian Hecker.

Curtis Roads / Eric Frye

ISSUE presents two generations of artists working in the medium of computational music: pioneering computer musician and scholar Curtis Roads, whose contributions to electronic music and computer music are vast, as well as composer, artist, and curator Eric Frye.
