Announcing Distributed Objects

ISSUE is pleased to announce the launch of Distributed Objects, a new publishing imprint featuring recorded and written documents focused on emerging artistic practices. The October 2014 release of double LPs by former Artists-in-Residence Sabisha Friedberg and Sergei Tcherepnin inaugurates the imprint.

In this interview from Clocktower Radio, Eve Essex talks to composer Pat Spadine about his story-driven, genre-defying, deliciously sensual, multimedia "opera", Apollo's Accidental Answer, which appears in its final form at ISSUE Friday, June 27, 2014.

The inaugural US iteration of Iceland’s acclaimed Tectonics festival comes to NYC in four events at ISSUE, presenting a rich program of new composition, improvisation and unique cross-genre collaborations exploring iconic voices in experimental composition.

Oren Ambarchi live

Recorded in October 2013, Australian guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Oren Ambarchi performs live at ISSUE our anniversary festival "Ten Years Alive on the Infinite Plain".

ISSUE, in partnership with Paddle8, presents an online benefit art auction, with bidding to open Tuesday, March 25th. More than thirty artworks have been generously donated, with all proceeds directly supporting ISSUE Project Room's presentation of over 500 artists and performers in 2014.

Unsound Festival NY 2014

Unsound Festival New York, fearless, bold and adventurous, is a stateside edition of the annual premiere alternative music festival Unsound Festival in Krakow, Poland (now in its twelfth year). Spring 2014 sees their return with this fourth New York edition at venues in Manhattan and Brooklyn, including ISSUE.

Recorded live in December 2013: experimental turntablist Marina Rosenfeld and electronic composer Mats Lindström. This first-ever collaboration was part of ISSUE's third-annual Swedish Energies festival.

C. Spencer Yeh performs a solo electronic set, recorded live as part of the PAN_ACT festival in June 2013. The set starts off with a minimal percussion sound, evolving into a complex glitch beat and textural washes of electronics.

ISSUE is pleased to announce the selection of our 2014 Artists-in-Residence: Raul De Nieves, Moriah Evans, Peter Evans, Georgia Sagri, and Gillian Walsh. ISSUE's AIR program offers artists an opportunity to develop significant new works in partnership with ISSUE over the course of the year.

The legendary Michigan trio creates harsh and hypnotic electronic landscapes, merging the frenzied energy of hardcore with the nihilistic menace of early industrial and noise. Recorded live from ISSUE's summer 2013 series at Pioneer Works.
