Piano/percussion quartet Yarn/Wire premiere a new work by German experimentalist Marcus Schmickler, a microtonal work for keyboards and mallets, juxtaposing fixed pitch with pitch continua. Schmickler also presents a new eight-channel electronics work tracing parallels between linguistics and sound.
Artist-in-Residence Raúl De Nieves and Colin Self premiere their new multimedia chamber opera, "The Fool." A four-act work scored for chorus and string-ensemble, "The Fool" is a mystical and allegorical journey performed by a group of friends in their quest to unite themselves one with the other.
One of the most finely tuned ears in music, Berlin's RB has described his music as “playing the traditional music of imaginary species.” He plays solo alongside fellow PAN artist Eli Keszler. The percussionist/composer debuts a new trio work featuring performers Tom Chiu and Leila Bordreuil.
