ISSUE presents slack-tuned, four-string wildman guitarist Bill Orcutt, unbound Bhutanese guitarist Tashi Dorji, and Poughkeepsian creative jazz originary Joe McPhee. All three are tireless improvisers & solo performers -- each possessing an enduring aesthetic that’s as independent as it is profoundly empathic.

Bill Orcutt performs a first-time duo set with Circuit Des Yeux, aka Haley Fohr. Known for her brooding, raw songwriting and singular four-octave voice, Fohr recently released a collaborative 7" with Orcutt. Legendary improvising guitarist Loren Connors, now active for 3 decades, performs solo. 7pm doors.

This evening showcases performers of the Vin Du Select Qualitite, or VDSQ label, an acoustic guitar LP series curated by Steve Lowenthal of Swingset Magazine and Plastic Records. Bill Orcutt, Glenn Jones, Mark McGuire, Matthew Mullane and Anthony Pasquarosa perform, celebrating new and forthcoming releases.

Bill Orcutt performs his hiccup-stuttered, blues-inspired guitar in a solo acoustic set, a shared bill with avant percussionist Jon Mueller. Active since the mid-80s, Mueller’s contemplative, dense minimalism is truly singular.
