On February 20th, ISSUE Project Room held its first ever Art Lottery at 3 Legged Dog in lower Manhattan. The benefit party centered on a collection of 70 donated artworks, which were taken home by supporters. The order of selection was determined in a lottery drawn from a hat by MC, performance artist, and raconteur Joseph Keckler.
Ben Vida, who gives premieres the first installment of his 2013 residency on March 28th, performed a short set. Psychedelic sisters Prince Rama headlined the evening, followed by DJ sets by Jamie Krasner and Marie Karlberg.
Longtime ISSUE Supporter Amy Schwartzman told the Wall Street Journal,"Issue has always been more than just a performance space, it's a community"-- a feeling bolstered throughout the room with Tony Conrad's announcement that ISSUE will return to its home at 22 Boerum Place until Summer 2015.
Our deepest thanks go out to those who came out to support ISSUE, and our ongoing project to foster progressive performing arts in Brooklyn.
We are especially thankful to our generous sponsors for this event: Lucullan Foods, Bomb Magazine, HBO, Sixpoint Brewery, Idiom Magazine, Blue Bottle Coffee Co., nunu chocolates, New York Distilling Company, Brooklyn Hotdog, Van Brunt Stillhouse, Pies n Thights, and Flatiron Wines & Spirits.
