Suzanne Fiol Curatorial Fellowship 2026

ISSUE Project Room is pleased to announce the selection of Isabella Thorpe-Woods as 2026 Suzanne Fiol Curatorial Fellow. Thorpe-Woods will present a curated series of events that explore the idea of letters as a curatorial prompt, and the ways they both fail and succeed in transmitting meaning or reaching their desired destination.

Kim Brandt: Clear Night

A collaborative presentation of ISSUE & Pioneer Works’ Artist-In-Residence programs, Clear Night is a series of related but distinct performances in which dancers deploy a variety of movement systems to proliferate tones, surfaces, and landscapes. A different work will be presented for 8 continuous days.

L. Gray Presents: A Blackstar Valentine

Keith Connolly, aka L.GRAY opens his ISSUE Project Room residency with A BLACKSTAR VALENTINE. A love letter in sound and vision to the Duke and the Baron, the event features PAPASHEROS (L.GRAY, JF Ryan, and Lala Ryan), Pigeons, and a very special appearance by legendary Japanese singer-songwriter Morio Agata.

ISSUE is pleased to announce the Suzanne Fiol Curatorial Fellowship, a new initiative supporting emerging curators, launched during ISSUE’s Fall 2016 Season. Named for ISSUE’s visionary founder Suzanne Fiol, the program mentors curatorial fellows as they work to cultivate, incubate and present innovative projects.

ISSUE Members are welcomed for a sneak peek at our 22 Boerum Pl. theater at this invitation-only Year-End Celebration. Artist-In-Residence Dawn Kasper premieres "Not There", a new improvisational score inspired by the Lakota myth of Iktomi that illustrates a tale of deception. Preceded by an open-bar reception.

A talk by Evan Calder Williams develops around two fields of inquiry: the practice of weaving and the concept of the grotesque. Continuing his interest in the essay form as experimental historical montage, Williams moves between the daily and fantastic, passing amongst pixels, tombs, and factories.

C. Spencer Yeh presents two new moving image works showcasing his unique perspective as an artist, organizer, and audience member. A travelogue captured via smartphone in Egypt explores surveillance, chance composition, tourism, and politics. Shot over the year 2002, a "concert film" documents approximately 40 bands.

Lea Bertucci with Bradley Eros & Anthony Saunders

Lea Bertucci explores the sonic qualities of a decrepit alto sax uncovered from Bradley Eros' basement, with a live collage of 35mm slide and 16mm film projections by Eros. Anthony Saunders, of seminal harsh noise group Bastard Noise, performs with Bertucci on bass clarinet, celebrating the duo's first cassette.
