Suzanne Fiol Curatorial Fellowship 2026

Ongoing Series

ISSUE Project Room is pleased to announce the selection of Isabella Thorpe-Woods as 2026 Suzanne Fiol Curatorial Fellow. Thorpe-Woods will present a curated series of events that explore the idea of letters as a curatorial prompt, and the ways they both fail and succeed in transmitting meaning or reaching their desired destination.

The Sonic Unconscious

Ongoing Series

"The Sonic Unconscious" brings together three artists whose work begins in the field: Jana Winderen, Yolande Harris and Gina Badger. The disembodied sounds of the tape or record, alienated from their sources, create a metaphysical field for exploration of pure sound isolated from the visible.

Emerging Artists Commissions 2011

Ongoing Series

ISSUE’s Emerging Artists Commission program focuses on transdisciplinary practices with an attention to contemporary political, aesthetic, social and technological concerns. 2011 recipients include Alex Chechile, Natacha Diels, Laura Vitale, Doron Sadja, Enda Bates, Ben Vida, Michelle Nagai, and Backbreakerneckbrace.

ISSUE Project Room is pleased to announce our Artists in Residence for 2011: Okkyung Lee, Nate Wooley, Prince Rama, and James Ilgenfritz. The AIR program offers artists an opportunity to develop significant new works in partnership with ISSUE over the course of the year.

Darmstadt Essential Repertoire 2010

Darmstadt “Classics of the Avant Garde” presents its third annual week of Essential Repertoire at ISSUE Project Room, an adoration and exploration of the experimental tradition in classical music.

Minor Musics Finland

Ongoing Series

The first installment of Minor Musics brings Finnish artists Tomutonttu and Kiila to New York, as well as a rare live performance by Kemialliset Ystävät with New York collaborators Raphael Lyon, Samara Lubelski, Marcia Bassett, Michael Bernstein, Taylor Richardson, Tom Carter, Dave Nuss, and Pete Nolan.

Darmstadt Institute 2010

ISSUE Project Room presents the second annual Darmstadt Institute, a festival of interdisciplinary programming including concerts, lectures, workshops, film screenings, and talkbacks which celebrates and critically examines the continuum of the experimental tradition in music and related media.

MATA Interval

Ongoing Series

MATA Interval is a bi-monthly series developed and produced by young participants in MATA’s Curatorial Associate program, which features emerging composers and performers using software instruments, using video as a parallel practice, and rethinking the notion of chamber ensemble in the digital age.

Littoral

Floating Points Festival 2009

A month-long program experimenting with and utilizing ISSUE’s custom-built 15 channel hemispherical speaker system, the Floating Points Festival returns with a line-up of luminary sound artists including Hisham Bharoocha, Morton Subotnick, Stephen Vitiello, Zeena Parkins, Suzanne Thorpe, C. Spencer Yeh and Tony Conrad.
