ISSUE Project Room and Darmstadt "Essential Repertoire" present Ne(x)tworks Ensemble performing music of the New York School.

Celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the experimental literature publisher, Exact Change.

ISSUE presents the first of two days observing the work of revolutionist composer Alvin Lucier. The Ever Present Orchestra stages two recent Lucier works: Braid and Hanover. Joan La Barbara gives the American premiere of Double Rainbow. Lucier himself performs Bird and Person Dyning.

An afternoon with legendary singer and composer Joan La Barbara as she demonstrates her signature extended vocal techniques and approach to singing, including the vocal warm-ups, stretches, tone production, resonance focusing, reinforced harmonics or overtone singing, and other techniques.

Now in its ninth year, Darmstadt's annual birthday concert has become a time-honored tradition. Terry Riley's 1964 masterwork is performed by new music legends including Joan La Barbara, Matana Roberts, Elliott Sharp, Joshua Rubin, Conrad Harris, Pauline Kim Harris, and members of So Percussion and Iktus percussion.

Ne(x)tworks and a number of stellar guests delve into the disparate world of open, graphic and modular scores created after the innovations of Earle Brown and the New York School of the 1950’s.
