Berlin-based Hanna Hartman is a very important power in today's performance, sound art- and modern composition scenes. For some 20 years, she has developed an unique and own artistic language, more or less creating her own genre. Experiencing the works of Hanna Hartman live is hypnotic and beautiful. This is her second performance at Swedish Energies.

Mats Lindström is the studio director of Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) in Stockholm since 2004. He is a composer, musician and technician working with raw electronic music, sometimes created on self-designed instruments, and often with a strong visual presence. Marina Rosenfeld is freely travelling the domains of visual art, installations and music, working with large scale performances and as an experimental turntablist. Rosenfeld lives and works in New York City. This is their first collaboration ever.

Another world premiere! Gothenburg legend Henrik Rylander is working with minimal, raw, no input mixing desk feedback drones and noise. He was founding member of the infamous garage rock band Union Carbide Productions and also founded ritual rock group The Skull Defekts in 2005. Artist and musician MV Carbon is based in Brooklyn and is using cello, tape machines, field recordings, synthesizers, self designed electronics and is interested in works with spatial integration and site-specific consideration. Two artists with extremely individual voices meet.

Visual artist Alba G. Corral and sound creator Nikka (Mónica Muñoz) is The Space In Between (the project is based in Spain), an elegant collaboration in which sound and code interact live. They describe their meeting as trying to establish a dialogue; and that "Balance and chaos move through silence and black space."

Mats Gustafsson is perhaps the world's leading free jazz sax player. His endless touring and recording is giving us cascades of free jazz energies, with his amazing solo actions and with groups like The Thing, FIRE!, Swedish Azz and the sadly defunct Peter Brötzmann Chicago Tentet. Tonight he is giving us a dose of live electronics and saxophone, his second attack of Swedish Energies is a fact!

Curated by Mats Lindström, Lawrence Kumpf, Bryan Kasenic & Joachim Nordwall.

Swedish Energies: EMS in NYC is presented by ISSUE Project Room, The Bunker, EMS and The Consulate General of Sweden in New York, with public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council.
