Raz Mesinai aka Badawi performs his series of haunting compositions drawing from ancient nomadic music and free improvisations for zarb and framedrum Resurrections for goatskin.
Raz Mesinai is both known as a Middle Eastern percussionist and a pioneer in new electronic and dub music with his groundbreaking hybrid project BADAWI, a synthesis of ancient, nomadic musical styles with contemporary electronics. Other works by Mesinai include "Before The Law", and "Cyborg Acoustics" on Tzadik and a fifth BADAWI release, on ROIR records, "Clones and False Prophets", and his much awaited new release on Asphodel "Safe" due to be released in October of this year. He has just completed scoring a feature film titled "Sorry, Hater's" starring Robin Wright Penn and Abdel Kachiche.
