An Improvisational Symphony: coordinated by Suzanne Langille

A diverse array of twenty artists come together in An Improvisational Symphony to close ISSUE's 20th Anniversary Season, coordinated by vocalist and longtime ISSUE friend, Suzanne Langille. The celebratory concert is split into four movements, each representing a traditional element that will inspire groups of five musicians to present 20-minutes of improvised sounds.

Keke Hunt (Just The Right Height): Live

2023 ISSUE Artist-In-Residence Keke Hunt's (Just The Right Height) live set builds upon the ongoing project with collaborator Ben Mendelewicz utilizing motion capture data recorded with choreographer Charlton Diaz, and 3D avatar backup dancers designed by Shahan Assadourian and Mendelewicz.

Experimental Nordic artists Avant Joik make their 2024 U.S. debut at ISSUE Project Room. Blending traditional joik language and vocal experimentation using electronic soundscapes, Indigenous Sámi singer Katarina Barruk (vocals/joik) and acclaimed experimentalist Maja Solveig Kjelstrup Ratkje (vocals and live electronics) perform with live visuals by Sámi artist Matti Aikio. Renowned experimental vocalist and composer Joan La Barbara will open the evening.
