ISSUE celebrates its 20th Anniversary at our 22 Boerum Pl. theater with projections of work commissioned for our Isolated Field Recordings Series (2020), which engaged nineteen artists to create new audio field recordings, with associated visuals, in response to COVID-19’s impact on public assembly.

Kim Brandt’s smart, affecting, weird-form dances never take for granted the bodily habits or functional protocols of modern choreography and its users. Here she talks about her latest work, Clear Night, 2016, commissioned by Issue Project Room, comprising eight unique, daily performances from Friday May 20th to Friday May 27th at Pioneer Works in Brooklyn.
A collaborative presentation of ISSUE & Pioneer Works’ Artist-In-Residence programs, Clear Night is a series of related but distinct performances in which dancers deploy a variety of movement systems to proliferate tones, surfaces, and landscapes. A different work will be presented for 8 continuous days.

Choreographer Kim Brandt opens her 2015 residency with a new durational work premiering at Audio Visual Arts from 12-6pm. The untitled piece is an inquiry of the human form as a material, revealing what happens when a method, formal system or ideology is laid upon the body.
