The International Contemporary Ensemble (ICE), described recently by the New York Times as “one of the most adventurous and accomplished groups in new music,” is a chamber group comprised of dynamic a versatile young performers dedicated to the music of our time.

Using video, guitars, voice, zither, and electronics, Jay King and Mario Diaz de Leon will perform their dense, percussive, and hyper-composed audiovisual style, as well as more recent approaches incorporating improvisation and live video.

In tribute and commemoration of the artistic contributions of Romanian composer, pianist, and conductor Ana-Maria Avram (1961-2017), ISSUE presents a “tombeau” program of Avram’s works performed by Either/OR, featuring Mario Diaz de Leon, Vasko Dukovski, Russell Greenberg, Margaret Lancaster, and Zach Rowden.

Tectonics Festival opens at the First Unitarian church, utilizing their pipe organ in works by Klaus Lang, as well as Feldman performed by James Rushford. Yarn/Wire play works of Lang and Annea Lockwood. Nate Young of Wolf Eyes and Mario Diaz de Leon premiere a newly commissioned collaboration for large ensemble.

ZS and Mivos Quartet come together for an evening of new chamber music and collaboration. Mivos performs works by Mario Diaz de Leon, Tristan Perich, and J.S. Bach arranged by ZS' Patrick Higgins. ZS perform selections from their recent output, including their ferocious 'Xe' in a new arrangement featuring Mivos.

Red Light New Music presents a concert of music by Earle Brown, Bruno Maderna, and premieres by Scott Wollschleger and Vincent Raikhel. The ensemble, started in 2004, presents repertoire of composers rarely performed, as well as their own music. Joined by composer/multi-instrumentalist Mario Diaz de Loen.
