ISSUE remains committed to supporting the local experimental arts community, while also ensuring the health and safety for our artists, staff, and audience members, which remains paramount to our planning. While we are excited to welcome audiences back to in-person events, ISSUE will continue to act in compliance with direction from Local, State and Federal government agencies. Additionally, ISSUE will request: attendees wear face coverings during indoor performances; plus encourages appropriate social distancing, particularly within designated concession areas.
In response to our suspension of in-person programming, beginning March 2020, ISSUE commissioned more than 250 artists, presenting free online programs including through series such as: Isolated Field Recordings; The Steve Circuit; ongoing Distant Pairs commissions; and With Womens Work and we have been excited to welcome audiences back to a limited number of in-person, indoor and outdoor events beginning in Fall 2021.
Throughout the renovation of our Downtown Brooklyn theater, in-person activities are taking place at partner venues & alternate spaces across NYC and we look forward to continuing to bring commissions, premieres, and rare performances to new contexts and spaces.
ISSUE will communicate future programming decisions in response to guidance provided by the City of New York regarding public assembly and measures directed by the Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. We encourage you to sign up for our newsletter, follow us on social media, and visit our expansive free Archive & Media page, which includes many recent and historic performances. ISSUE will be updating these platforms with documentation regularly, and aims to continue supporting and promoting artists and their work through both in-person and online channels. Our hope is that these presentations continue to serve as a resource (and respite) for our audiences during this unprecedented time of uncertainty.
Our commitment to support artists matters now more than ever given the challenges that artists and many small cultural organizations across NYC currently face.
We look forward to seeing you again soon and deeply appreciate your ongoing support.
