Eden Girma: DREAMCLUB_RADI0

Fri 13 Nov, 2026, 8pm
MITU580

ISSUE Project Room celebrates the 20th Anniversary of its Artists-In-Residence (AIR) program throughout 2026 with performances by current residents and returning alumni. This anniversary season highlights AIRs whose work reflects the ongoing evolution of a much broader community of experimental artists who have helped shape ISSUE for over twenty years.

Friday, November 13th at 8pm, ISSUE presents DREAMCLUB_RADI0, an extra-dimensional radio program which takes place at 3:⚐ℹ︎.?⛽︎ A.M. every night. Threads of collective subconscious and buried experience emerge from a trawl through depths of hallucinatory space, weaving fragmented webs of surreal, evocative sound. On this special evening, join your hosts as they make a rare visit to the material plane at MITU580 — making use of human biology, electrical technology, air pressure waves, and audiovisual cognition processes, in order to follow traces of feelingnonsensememory and beam you some dreams.

Body-vessel-spirits graciously provided by Eden Girma (2026 AIR) and isabel crespo pardo.

Girma’s residency is supported by Harvestworks’ Technology Immersion Program (TIP) and is part of an ongoing program collaboration between two organizations that are committed to supporting the creation and presentation of experimental performance practices while sharing resources.

Eden Girma is a multi-instrumental musician, vocalist, producer, and composer hailing from Madison, WI. Through a genre-bending ear and a poetic lyricism, they bring to life immersive and dynamic sonic environments that not only resonate with individual hearts, but brings people closer together in a spirit of intimacy and empathy. Girma draws strength from the transportive, transformational power latent in sounding and listening; voice, text, synths, and field recordings are emotive entry points into radical vulnerability, and blur lines between dreams, memory, and reality both embodied and hoped for. They employ practices of improvisation, playfulness with time, lush harmonic movement and polyphonic dissonance, alongside technologies of interactive and generative music, to wield songs and soundscapes as healing interruptions of daily life, imaginative excavations of marginalized histories, and uplifting counterpoints to isolating, disconnecting societal scripts. Girma additionally performs and releases solo music under the moniker aden, exploring realms of popular music and songwriting with a sensitivity guided by jazz, impressionism, and experimental electronics.

isabel crespo pardo is a Brooklyn-based interdisciplinary artist working across sound, performance, text, and visual art. Captivated by the realms of memory, spirit and ephemerality, they create rituals of transformation that center improvisation as a bridge to the subconscious. Drawing from latin american histories, black american art, and queer and trans thought, crespo treats performance as a site where vulnerability, interconnection, and form are negotiated in real time.  Their work often materializes as expanded scores and collaborative constellations. Projects include the poemsong trio sinonó, whose shifting sonic topographies fuse composition and improvisation; embroidered and screen-printed graphic scores that operate simultaneously as textile object and performative instruction; and Mighty Angel…come down clothed in rainbow-head, a performance work co-created with Anna Abondolo that stages monologue as invocation. Under the moniker iiisa, they are developing a solo body of work interlacing melody with archival recordings of their family in Costa Rica, constructing immersive sonic environments that function as “memory portals,” where solace is offered through the admission of non-linear becoming.

MITU580 is a multi-use art space in Brooklyn, NY founded and operated by interdisciplinary performance company, Mitu. Driven by a commitment to innovation, Mitu expands the definition of theater through methodical experimentation with the form. Founded in 1997, Mitu is an artist-led organization that frames artmaking as a mode of research and inquiry. The organization works to share knowledge, spark dialogue, and strengthen our community through cultivating radical ways of reimagining our world. Mitu embodies this by way of its productions and exhibitions, trans-global research initiatives, artist support opportunities, education programs galvanizing the next generation of artists, and the curated programming of MITU580. Mitu’s founding Artistic Director Rubén Polendo, and Co-Artistic Director Justin Nestor, lead an interdisciplinary group of company members in building bridges across ideas, cultures, and communities. Mitu’s work has been presented at theaters, museums, contemporary arts centers, and non-traditional venues throughout the United States, South America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North Africa. This program is presented in partnership with Mitu’s Artists-At-Home program.
