A three-day series in collaboration with the Whitney Museum celebrates fifty years of David Rosenboom’s pioneering contributions to American experimental music. A composer, performer, conductor, interdisciplinary artist, author and educator, Rosenboom presents many of his major works, from 1964 to the present.

ISSUE is pleased to announce the return of Iceland's acclaimed Tectonics Festival for the second-annual NY edition, presented by ISSUE over three evenings at Abrons Art Center and The First Unitarian Church, Brooklyn. Tectonics provides a rare forum for critical consideration of new developments in composition.

The fourth-annual Swedish Energies celebrates 50 years of Stockholm's EMS with Maria w Horn, Ellen Arkbro, Jenny Sunesson, The Sons of God, Stephen O’Malley, Kristina Matousch, Frederikke Hoffmeier, Carl Michael von Hausswolff, Daniel Rozenhall & Sten Backman, Christine Abdelnour & Joachim Nordwall, & more.

A 2-night spotlight on Graham Lambkin's Kye label features Call Back the Giants, Malcolm Goldstein, Matt Krefting, Vanessa Rossetto, James Rushford and Lambkin— who also presents a tape work by Henning Christiansen. Performances weave together concepts from the sonic and visual arts, as well as sounds of the everyday.

Keiji Haino, legend of the Japanese underground, returns to Brooklyn for two performances September 26th and 27th, following up his sold out series at ISSUE in 2013. He takes the stage in a special duo with Tony Conrad as well as performing solo. Cellist Okkyung Lee and rock outfits xNOBBQx and X Wave perform as well.

Minor Musics Japan comes to four American cities in September featuring venerated artists of Japan’s musical underground: Ché-SHIZU, Maher Shalal Hash Baz and à qui avec Gabriel. Organized by ISSUE Project Room in collaboration with Wild Beast at CALARTS, Marfa Live Arts, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit.

The inaugural US iteration of Iceland’s acclaimed Tectonics festival comes to NYC in four events at ISSUE, presenting a rich program of new composition, improvisation and unique cross-genre collaborations exploring iconic voices in experimental composition.

Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival, the Nordic region’s premiere contemporary music festival, descends on New York for its first stateside edition with a rich program of diverse and challenging contemporary music as well as avant-garde sounds past and present from the Nordic countries.

Unsound Festival New York, fearless, bold and adventurous, is a stateside edition of the annual premiere alternative music festival Unsound Festival in Krakow, Poland (now in its twelfth year). Spring 2014 sees their return with this fourth New York edition at venues in Manhattan and Brooklyn, including ISSUE.

From September 25 to October 1, 2016 ISSUE Project Room presents After 9 Evenings: A 50th Anniversary Celebration, a dynamic series of performances, talks, screenings, and workshops to mark the 50th anniversary of 9 Evenings: Theatre & Engineering (1966).

ISSUE is pleased to announce the selection of our 2014 Artists-in-Residence: Raul De Nieves, Moriah Evans, Peter Evans, Georgia Sagri, and Gillian Walsh. ISSUE's AIR program offers artists an opportunity to develop significant new works in partnership with ISSUE over the course of the year.
