Stephan Moore, Scott Smallwood and Suzanne Thorpe present new work as a part of World Listening Day, which pays homage to the experimental legacy of Pauline Oliveros. Together, these artists “sound out” the sonic qualities of ISSUE’s historic McKim, Mead and White Theater at 22 Boerum Place using Paul Geluso’s 3D Sound Object invention.
July 14th and 18th, ISSUE Project Room and Harvestworks are pleased to present two performances featuring acoustician Paul Geluso’s immersive 3D Sound Object, a speaker system capable of reproducing complex directional sound radiation.
Tuesday, July 18, ISSUE and Harvestworks present Stephan Moore, Scott Smallwood and Suzanne Thorpe dedicating performances to the experimental legacy of Pauline Oliveros, presented as a part of World Listening Day 2017. The evening features acoustician Paul Geluso’s 3D Sound Object speaker system.
Chris Brown, piano, Suzanne Thorpe, flute, and Nate Wooley, trumpet, perform improvised electroacoustic music using timbres and textures that emerge from extended instrumental techniques and live electronic transformation. Composer Alexandra Gardner presents two compositions for solo instruments and electronics.
Volume (IV) is an improvising quartet featuring electroacoustic harpist Shelley Burgon, turntablist Maria Chavez, laptop artist Stephan Moore and electroacoustic flutist Suzanne Thorpe. Volume (IV) present a new work for ISSUE's hemiespheric 15-speaker sound system, with nightly contributions from installation artists.
Extreme Terrains is a multi-channel work that presents its audience with opportunities to listen to instinct and interact with the piece on a visceral level, asking listeners to trust what they feel as much as what they hear. Featuring Alex Chechile, Joe Boro, Jawwaad Taylor and Suzanne Thorpe.
A month-long program experimenting with and utilizing ISSUE’s custom-built 15 channel hemispherical speaker system, the Floating Points Festival returns with a line-up of luminary sound artists including Hisham Bharoocha, Morton Subotnick, Stephen Vitiello, Zeena Parkins, Suzanne Thorpe, C. Spencer Yeh and Tony Conrad.
